About the Summerhouse Dishcloth

The pattern here is designed in our beautiful summerhouse, which really makes all the creative ideas pop out. That’s why it should be called the Summerhouse Dishcloth 😉

… and there is a little summer atmosphere in the lightness of the design 🙂

I have completely fallen for filet crochet, and all the beautiful patterns you can make with it. It gives a really nice depth, when there is a hole here and there, and then you can put together patterns indefinitely, as they are completely in system. I like!

Time to produce: 1.5 hour
Skill level: Easy

For this pattern on The Summerhouse Dishcloth you need to be able to make double crochet, chains and single crochet.

There is two special techniques, I have used, to make it completely straight and pretty. It’s Chainless Foundation with Double Crochet, and there is a special stitch you make, to get COMPLETElY straight edges when turning. I have called it “Pretty Turning (pt)”.

What you need

Materials

Before you get started

There is a special technique you need to use when turning the work, to get the perfectly straight edges. I call it “Pretty turning (pt)”. You can of course choose to turn the piece in your usual way, but I would recommend you to try this, because it will be quite nice!

Pæn Vendemaske (stående fastmasker)

Step 1

When you have reached the end of the row, turn around without making turning chains.

Pæn Vendemaske (stående fastmasker)

Step 2

Pull a little in the loop, and make a single crochet in the first stitch.

Pæn Vendemaske (pv) (stående fastmasker)

Step 3

On top of that single crochet, you make another: Insert the hook in the back loop of the two loops from the first single crochet and make a single crochet in it.

Step 4

Now you have made 2 stitches with the pretty turning = 2 pt. This is how the edge becomes completely straight, without using the standard chains for turning 🙂

The holes in the pattern

The holes in the pattern appear by making a chain and skipping a stitch. When you have to crochet on top of the chain (where there is a hole), you crochet around the entire chain – insert crochet hook into the hol,e that has come, and take the yarn back. That’s how you get a nice hole …

(Parantheses) og commas,

When you crochet according to the pattern, there are some different characters you use, so you avoid huge lines. Here I use commas “,” and parentheses “()”.

  • At a comma: What stands between commas, you just do as it says.
  • At parentheses: What is in between parentheses must be multiplied by the number of times that follows.

If you are new to patterns, then it’s explained here with an example:

EXAMPLE: “1 pt, (1 ch, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc) 2 times, turn”

Means:

“1 pt, 1 ch, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc, 1 ch, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc, turn”.

The pattern

ROW 1
Make 59 double crochet (dc) with chainless foundation, turn

ROW 2
(1 pt = turn without using a turning chain, but by pull the first loop a little loose)
59 single crochet (sc), turn

ROW 3
2 pt, (1 chain, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc) 29 times, turn

ROW 4
(1 pt = turn without using a turning chain, but by pull the first loop a little loose)

59 single crochet (sc), turn

ROW 5
2 pt, 58 dc, turn

ROW 6-33
Repeat row 2-5 till you reach 33 rows in total. Finish with a chain, tighten it, weave it in, cut the thread and!

… babaaaaa: You have now made your own “The Summerhouse Dishcloth” and have a dishcloth, that is ready for use 🙂 And perfect for a summerhouse!
