About Dear Vera’s pacifier chain with adapter
The Dear Vera’s pacifier chain with adapter is for pacifiers without handles. It is a super sweet and quick pattern that can be used as a gift for baby showers, christenings, birthdays, Christmas gifts and of course for your own little ones. I made the recipe for my own niece Vera, when she was a little fart who threw pacifiers around, when they were out on a stroll. They barely lost any pacifiers after getting them on a leash.
I would not recommend using the pacifier chain when they sleep, to avoid getting them tangled. Use it during the waking hours outside the home so the pacifiers are held on to.
Time to produce: 25 minutes
Skill level: Medium
Length: 17 cm excl. the clip
The pattern for Dear Vera’s pacifier chain with adapter is based on the Shell stitch. It can be a bit tricky to assemble the different parts on the pacifier chain / pacifier clip / pacifier holder, so set some time aside along with patience, if you are not so experienced with crocheting.
This free crochet pattern is for pacifiers without a handle. Pattern for pacifier with handle is here:

Tools
Materials
When the Shell Stitches are made on the pacifier chain / pacifier clip / pacifier holder (step 3 and forward) you crochet it all on the same side. Therefore you do not flip it, but turn it.
Step 1
Use needle 2.5 mm: Chain with 38, turn
Step 2
In the 2nd stitch from the hook: 37 sc in chain + 3 ch, turn
Step 3
Now crochet the shell, starting and ending with a half shell.
In the 4th stitch from the hook: 3 double crochet (dc), skip 2 sts (1 sc, skip 2 sts, 6 dc in next, skip 2 sts) 4 times, 1 sc, skip 2 sts, 4 dc in last st.
To make a turn, so you can crochet shells on the other side, make 1 ch, 4 sc along the last double crochet stitch, 3 ch. Now you are ready to make shells along the other side.
Step 4
4 dc, skip 2 sts (1 sc, skip 2 sts, 6 dc in next, skip 2 sts) 4 times, 1 sc, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in last st.
Step 5
Attach the clip: Hold the end of the clip up to the start of the pacifier chain (the end without the pacifier adapter). Crochet 8 sc around the clip so it is attached. (See pictures for help.) Finish with a slip stitch and then a chain and tighten. Fasten off and weave in the end.
Step 6
Attach the adapter: Turn the adapter so the front of the adapter and the front of the pacifier chain fits. Pull the half shell at the end of the pacifier chain through the adapter and sew it on, on the backside.
Now the Dear Vera’s pacifier chain with adapter is finished and ready for use! The pacifier chain / pacifier clip / pacifier holder can now keep pacifier from getting lost 😀
