About Potholder in Suzette Stitch
The Suzette Stitch makes such a nice pattern, and a really good one for potholders. It’s also perfect for dishcloths, and that one is already for free on the site here: Dishcloth in Suzette Stitch. I love sets, so of course this set of pot holders had to be made 👏
It’s a quick set to make, and heat-proof too. The Suzette Stitch is a fairly dense pattern – absolutely perfect for potholders.
I always use Infinity Hearts Rose and when I make these sets for hostess gifts and such. It’s just perfect for sets, because their colors match in both Infinity Hearts Rose 8/4 (for dishcloths) and Infinity Hearts Rose BIG (for potholders).

For this pattern on the Chef’s Potholder, you need to be able to make chains, single crochet and double crochet, so it’s not that demanding. Click on the links here or scroll down to the bottom to see guiding videos.
The pattern for Potholder in Suzette Stitch
From the pattern below, you get a piece of approx. 16 x 19.5 cm. You need 4 of them in total, and they are crocheted together 2 and 2. To avoid too many loose ends: On the first one, cut the yarn when it is finished. On the other, you don’t cut the yarn, but use it to crochet the two together … and of course the same with the next two 😁
START Chain 37 + 1 tch (an extra chain), turn.
RK 1-21 Start in the 2nd loop from the hook: (in first stitch: 1 single crochet + 1 double crochet, skip 1 stitch) 18 times, 1 single crochet, 1 tch, turn.
Finish with a chain, tighten it and cut the yarn on every second.
Crochet the pieces together
Start
Hold 2 pieces together of the Potholder in Suzette Stitch. Insert the crochet hook through both pieces and crochet the pieces together with sc all the way around.
The corner
When you get to the corner crochet 2 sc together (in Danish in the picture: “2 fm sammen”) in the last stitch, turn around the corner, crochet 2 sc again on the other side of the corner. It gives the nicest edge.
Leather on!
Now the strap and tag must be attached. It’s easiest to start with the strap, and then place the tag after it.
The strap can be a bit of a bandit, so here a pair of pliers is a pretty good aid.
Take a larger crochet hook or something round and a little thick. Insert it through the corner, where you want the strap to be, to widen the hole, and let it sit there for a bit.
Cut off the length you want. I cut 50 cm, so I have enough for knots and don’t waste too much. Tie a knot, so that the strap is 7-8 cm in height.
Pass the ends through the hole. You can use pliers to get it pulled through, and tie a knot on the other side. Cut off the excess leather ends.
Insert a large crochet hook again where the tag is to be placed. Let it sit for a while so the hole widens.
From the front, insert one part of the Chicago Screw into the leather tag (the one with the tube end), bend the leather tag over on the other side, and screw it together with the last part of the post screw (the one that is a screw). And da daaaaa: You have a set of beautiful pot holders, where you can unscrew and tie off all the leather before washing 🤗
