Puff Stitch

ENGLISH, US-terms (The video is texted in English, so remember to turn on the subtitles.):

The Puff Stitch is a fluffy stitch that has a bit of a 3D effect, because it fluff well. I’ve seen it before in a crochet book called pineapple stitch too.

It’s a super nice stitch, because it fluffs well, and because it has the long threads, that lie so lightly and nicely next to each other. I have seen it used on many different projects. One of the things, that makes it extra nice, is that it looks the same on both sides. It’s absolutely perfect to use on baby blankets like Walter’s Baby Blanket here.

How do you make the Puff Stitch?

It’s a stitch that takes up two stitches, and in the video I’ll show you how to make it, and the best tips to make it as easy as possible:

  1. Yarn over and stick the hook into the stitch. You take the yarn back and keep it at the height of a good double crochet. You repeat this 3-4-5 times, depending on what is written in your pattern. Here on Walter’s Baby Blanket it’s 4 times.
TIP: Hold the yarn on the hook with one of the other fingers – that makes it easier to hold on to.
  2. Now you yarn over and pull through all the stitches on your hook and make a chain to lock it.
TIP: Hold the end of the crochet hook down and press upwards with the back of the crochet hook as you pull through all the threads on the hook. That makes it easier to pull through.
