About Favorite Christmas Ornament 2022
This years Favorite Christmas Ornament ❤️
I love texture, which gives some vivid shapes and depths. Here on this edition, I tested many different techniques, and ended up with these incomplete puff stitches that lie like pearls on a string. As always crocheted in the classic Christmas colours: A good dark red, white and gold.

The only glitter yarn I use, is this “Lurex” from Lammy Yarns. It fits in gauge with cotton 8/4, and is just so PRETTY and full of glitter! 😍

Before you get started
The video here goes through the different techniques, and is a good support for the pattern. It’s a good idea to see it before you start, unless you are quite experienced 🤗 (Turn on US subtitles)
Increases
Make 1 stitch into 2: At an increase you crochet 2 single crochet in the same stitch.
Decrease
Gather 2 stitches into 1: At a decrease, insert the hook into the first stitch of the two stitches, yarn over and pull through, insert the hook into the second stitch, yarn over and pull through, and pull the yarn through the 3 loops on your hook.
Incomplete puff stitches
Yarn over, and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through. You do this 4 times in total, after which you yarn over and pull through all the loops on the hook, followed by a tight sc in the next stitch.
From the top (almost) every time
After the chain, you make a turning chain (tch) to turn. After this row you end each row with a chain (to lock) and you cut the yarn. On the next row, you put on new yarnend at the beginning of the piece again, where you pull the loop high before making your first sc in the row.
Pattern for Favorite Christmas Ornament 2022
Chain: ch
Turning chain: tch
Single crochet: SC
Increase: INC
Decrease: DEC
Incomplete Puff Stitch: IPS
Start with a long end (30-40 cm) – it will be used for sewing, when you have finished crocheting 🤗
START (white) Looong start-end (about 30 cm – used for sewing): 31 chains + 1 tch, turn (31)
R 1 (white) SC-row: 1 sc inc, 28 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 ch, cut the yarn (31)
R 2 ( gold) Like row 1 (31)
R 3 (red) Like row 1 (31)
R 4 (red) IPS-row: 1 sc ind, 2 sc, (1 ips, 1 sc) x 12 times, 2 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 chain, cut the yarn (31)
R 5 (red) Like row 1 (31)
R 6 (gold) Like row 1 (31)
Repeat R 1-6 until you reach 30 rows in total.
Finish with a chain, tighten it and cut the yarn. If your final color is glitter yarn, just cut to normal length as it’s not strong enough to sew with. If your final color is one in cotton, leave 30-40 cm to sew together.
Gather uuuup!
I have made some helpful videos that should make it easier for you to understand the pattern. It’s just usually easier in live pictures 🙂 All videos are made and edited by Milla Billa. Music by www.bensound.com
