About the Crochet Christmas Bow
I have been doing Christmas crocheting, and of course there should be a little bow on the tree. I couldn’t find a pattern that I thought, was exactly as I would like it – so I had to get started myself 🙂
They are really good for the Christmas tree, but if you make Advent Wreaths and decorations for the door or window, they also work quite well! The ones I have made in glitter yarn, I think work best! They stay in shape and sparkle so nicely, but they can be a bit difficult. Especially because it is such a small hook size, if you are a beginner.
Time to produce: 30 minutes
Skill level: Medium
Size: 7 x 7 cm / 8.5 x 8.5 cm
For this crochet pattern on the Crochet Christmas Bow you have to be able to make chains, single crochet, decreasing and sew it all together.
I have designed the bow, so it looks pretty from all angles. Front and back. It can hang there and dangle, without you getting tics, because it suddenly turned to it’s backside. It is a bit smart.

The glitter bow is made with hook size 2 mm, and I think, that was the best bow. It measured 7 x 7 cm.
I made a bow in cotton yarn, so it is easier to see, how you assemble the parts, and that is made with hook size 2.5 mm and ended in size 8.5 x 8.5 cm.
All the parts
To make the bow, you have to make all these parts:
- The big part for the bow
- The smaller part for the bow
- The two hanging ends
The big part for the bow
Start: Chain 40. Chain them pretty tight. Start in 2nd stitch from hook in each row.
ROW 1-16 40 single crochet (sc), 1 chain, turn (40 sts)
Cut the yarn and leave an end for sewing.
The smaller part for the bow
Start: Chain 7. Chain them pretty tight. Start in 2nd stitch from hook in each row.
ROW 1-12 6 single crochet (sc), 1 chain, turn (6 m)
Cut the yarn and leave an end for sewing.
The two hanging ends
Start: Chain 16. Chain them pretty tight. Start in 2nd stitch from hook in each row.
ROW 1 15 single crochet (sc), 1 chain, turn (15 m)
ROW 2 14 sc, leave the last stitch, 1 chain, turn (14 m)
ROW 3 Skip the first stitch, 13 sc, 1 chain, turn (13 m)
ROW 4 12 sc, leave the last stitch (12 m)
The edge around In the same stitch, as you made the last single crochet, you make 2 single crochet more. Then you crochet 3 sc along the small and skew end. When you reach the tip, you crochet 4 sc together. Now you have to crochet your way back to the beginning, so you crochet in your very first chain from row 1 and single crochet 14 along the edge.
Cut the yarn and leave an end for sewing.

Sewing the parts together
Attach the big part
Sew together the big part, as shown in the photo.
Sew on one hanging end
Sew on one of the hanging ends as shown, where you sew it on on the wrong side.
Sew on the other hanging end
Sew on the other hanging part as shown.
Turn it around
Turn the whole thing around, so the right side comes out.
Sew on the smaller part for the bow
Fold the big bow part together, so you bend it over the middle, and bend the two halves together again, so you get an accordion-like appearance. Then you take the small crocheted part and hold it tightly around, and sew it together, so you have the assembly at the bottom of the bow.
Now it looks the same on both sides, and it can easily hang and turn around on the tree and be pretty from all angles. 🙂
Et voilá!
After you have pulled and squeezed on it, to get it assembled, you must give it a little love. Gently and caringly put it into shape, and then you have the finest Crochet Christmas Bows for the wonderful Christmas time 🙂
